This is a great record. I heard a DJ playing it through a Mastersounds mixer, with high quality audiophile carts, through some really nice speakers, and to be honest I didn't notice anything wrong with it at all. I was just enjoying the record. Obviously people have a choice. Either pay a shark a ridiculous amount of money for an original pressing. Listen to it on Youtube or Spotify. Or get the reissue and try to enjoy it. Unless you are a die hard audiophile listening on a really good set up I doubt the reported hiss is going to keep you up at night.
Gold as Heart
Update:On this occasion, I must sadly concur with (fellow Discographer) REENO - on closer examination of this record, I have found it to be a bit hissy on the toppermost end. I pointed it out to my lovely girlfriend just today, and she agreed with me, then we fooled about in a bubblebath for a bit. It was really really nice, she has beautiful feet!!
Yes she told me the same when I was also took a bath with her the other day
This is a FONK-infused BOOGIE monster that will have all of the ladies flocking to the dancefloor, before sending them to frolic and prance in a place of divine and heavenly ecstasy!!
This re-issue was not done correctly. There is audible sibilance all over the record, especially on the vocals on "Don't....".Test pressings serve a purpose! Sadly, the label that pressed this did not bother to even listen to them. A damn SHAME!
Yes I was told the store had sold 80 or so and that my 2 copies were the only bad ones.
I played this on a club system the other night and found it to be a bit crispy but not even close to as bad as you guys are describing here
Yet Reeno is currently selling his repress at $74 lol!
Agreed! Luckily was able to return mine but the store had not heard anyone else complain which I thought was very strange.
Totally agree Extremely disappointed. It is heard directly at the beginning of the disc
Sound quality and pressing of this one is spot on, nice heavyweight vinyl.
Yes...there is audible sibilance all over the record. Bad mastering.
Exactly! Can't see who wouldn't hear this - let alone praise the pressing quality which is outright bad. I listened to the soundclip on Juno, from where I ordered mine and you can hear it there too so I'm assuming it's unfortunately is the pressing.
Just listened to my copy and feel exactly the same, to the point where I think I can't listen to it let alone play it out. Maybe its not all judging by other comments?
Don't you think the high ends are too loud? Vocals are almost distorted on the chorus.
A multi genre-busting release that has transcended most dance scenes from Modern Soul, Rare Groove, Crossover and Boogie to become perhaps the most in-demand '80s record on the current collectors scene. 12 Inch copies are now routinely trading hands for £300+... if you can find one! The popularity of "Don't Send Me Away" was recently confirmed when a YouTube clip of Garfield himself, performing "Don't Send Me Away" at a Paris record stall in late 2018, went viral with over 2,000,000 views to date. "Don't Send Me Away" is quite simply one of the most in-demand records in the world right now.
It's because of the Paris vid the price suddenly sky-rocketed. Wasn't nearly as expensive to find before
