This is a pretty great soundtrack to a pretty great game. I don't think it's quite as uncompromisingly amazing as some people seem to think it is, but it's still pretty great. A few of the tracks veer a bit too far into game show theme tune territory for me.The pressing on the other hand is fabulous. But that's just Data Discs for you.

Well done to Tee Lopes for this catchy, fun and wonderful soundtrack which matches what a good Sonic game should be about. There's not one dull or filler track on here, so much so not having the remixed Sonic 1 tracks included did not create further bother which honestly previously did when the final tracklist was released. This album successfully catches and mixes the 90's Sonic vibe with a modern take.Data-Disc did a stellar job with the pressing, very silent between tracks.

I was really excited for this album. Sonic the Hedgehog always has the best music and never fails to make your day feel summery and bright. Sadly...this soundtrack fails to come up with anything memorable. Exactly why the gig was given to Tee Lopes (who I have never heard of) instead of Jun Senoue is beyond me. From the very beginning Sonic has had very distinct themes and melodies for each of his stages/zones and has given us some wonderful themes across many video games.Marble Zone, Bridge Zone, Lava Reef Zone, Windy and Ripply, Azure Blue World, A New Venture, Welcome to Station Square...I could go on and on. Nothing from this album will make it to that list. Is it bad? No, just generic and boring. These forgettable tunes could be pasted into ANY video game, they just don't sound Sonic-y enough. Nothing stands out.I have many Sonic albums in my collection and I can already tell that this one will be getting the absolute least amount of playtime.

Made an account just to say Jun Senoue is a complete hack when it comes to anything to do with genesis/megadrive era Sonic. Just look at his attempts on Sonic 4. Absolutely pitiful. Also it's completely presumptuous to take into account if you've heard of an artist before or not affect your opinion. For me Mania tracks like Press Garden Act 2, Mirage Saloon in general and Hi-Spec Robo Go easily rank up there with the classics from Sonic 1-3K and CD(Jp) and I hadn't heard of Lopes before Mania's announcement.

Exactly why the gig was given to Tee Lopes (who I have never heard of) instead of Jun Senoue is beyond me.The game was made by people who were active in the Sonic the Hedgehog fan-game community. That's also where Tee Lopes comes from – he created remixes of Sonic the Hedgehog themes that were popular around Sonic fan communities. Having him aboard is a product design decision as at its heart Sonic Mania was always a game for Sonic fans made by fans. This doesn't of course change your feelings towards the music, but hopefully answers to this matter.
